How is the series rating calculated?
The displayed score is the arithmetic mean of accepted one-to-five ratings submitted on this site. The rating count is the number of distinct accepted reader records for that series.
Submitting another score for the same series replaces that reader's earlier score. It does not add another vote. A series with no accepted votes displays Not rated yet, a series with fewer than ten accepted votes displays the vote count without a score, and a series whose average is below 4.0 displays no score. Such pages do not receive AggregateRating markup.
Worked example
Suppose ten readers rate a series 5, 5, 4, 4, 4, 4, 5, 3, 4, and 4. The sum is 42 and the count is 10, so the displayed score is 4.2 out of 5 from 10 ratings. If the reader who gave 3 later submits a 4, the stored score for that reader changes, the count stays at 10, and the average becomes 4.3.
A score is published only once at least ten readers have rated the series and the average is 4.0 or higher. Below either threshold the page says that no score is shown and emits no rating markup. The average is rounded to one decimal place for display and the same rounded value is used in the structured data, so the visible number and the machine-readable number never differ.
Where does a series rating appear?
A rating belongs to the series, so its total is shared by the series page and all chapter pages. This avoids splitting the same audience signal across dozens of reader URLs.
Use a series page to compare its rating with verified catalogue facts such as chapter count, page count, creator credit, format, and publication status.
What rating data is stored?
The application stores the score, series identifier, timestamps, and a keyed one-way voter hash. It does not store a raw IP address in the rating table. Suspected automated or manipulated votes may be removed after review.
Catalogue-source ratings are excluded. Structured rating data is emitted only when the matching first-party average and count are visible on the page.
